Pop Culture ❦

Pop culture is around us. I'm easily influenced by pop culture. TV and internet are the most influential intermedium. I like to pay attention to the new things or the popular things from the TV or the internet. Pop culture always changes my cognition and my idea about the vogue and the amusement. It makes my life fresh and interesting. Such as the popular singer, the newest movie and the most fashionable clothing style. The pop culture not only changes my cognition about the amusement, but also changes my cognition about the society and my spirit of my life. Such as the Olympic Games in China, it makes me proud. And it also makes me know that I should improve myself. Pop culture influences my life momently.

Pop Culture is an abstract noun, after learning this unit I know that pop culture can be concrete to four elements. That's objects, people, events and places. I think we can say that our life is the culture. We are the parts of the pop culture, and the pop culture is a mirror of our life and the society. There are many difference between pop culture and high culture. But what's the high culture? It always depends on the epoch. The most important things I have study is the way of saying the difference when different cultures get together. The “melting pot" and the "salad bowl". I think it's interesting and vivid. It makes me understand deeply. Different races, different cultures and different backgrounds get together, become the same is the "melting pot", become diversity is the "salad bowl". As an immigrant, which one is the better? I like the "salad bowl". Because I think differences make the society colorful. Pop culture is everywhere.

Cultural Identity ☃

This is my poster. There are two parts in my poster. Chinese culture is on the left and my favorite things are on the right. The three images in the middle is principal line. They are dragon, the Great Wall and the surname tree. The dragon symbolizes Chinese culture and the surname tree symbolizes Chinese history. The tree images symbolize China. All the other images come from the principal line. I chose images about Chinese food, Chinese traditional clothes, Chinese Festivals, Beijing opera and something I like. From the poster, you can see my background and my individual.

The Beijing Opera. It's famous in the world. Many people think it's amazing to draw pictures on people's faces. The different people have different characters, the different colors response different characters. So every character has its own color. The Beijing Opera is the quintessence of Chinese culture.

Reading ☂ "What Obama’s Text Message Campaign Reveals"

Obama is a smart person. Before reading "Obama's Text Message Campaign Reveals", I had never think about using message or some other ways to get more votes. I thought that the candidate just made speech to increase their votes. Obama use the technology to increase his votes. He is not only a smart speaker, but also a smart technologist. He is penetrating to the society and he can mastery the phenomenon, then utilize it. This reading also gives some ideas in my life. Sometimes, be creative is helpful. It may bring a big pleasantly surprise.

Music ♥

Jay Chou is my favorite pop star. I think he is a music genus. He is not only a singer, but also a musician, boss, lyricist, director, actor and a screenwriter. And he can play more than 20 kinds of musical instruments. He invents a new music style, called "Chinese music style" or "China Wind". We also call it Jay's music. The music style likes Chinese traditional music and there are also some pop music styles in it. And it is always played by Chinese traditional musical instrument. The "Chinese music style" just likes a Chinese poem. My favorite song, "Beyond Thousands Miles Apart", is a "Chinese music style" song. The song talks about two lovers, they have to leave each other faraway. It's a sad song.

Movie ★

Dustin Hoffman makes the autistic person, Raymond, very successful. His performance is perfect. That why he lived with some autistics and imitated them many mouths. No matter from deportment, action, posture, expression or tone, he plays just like a real autistic. When Raymond walked across the crossroad, the road sign said “Don’t walk”, Raymond stopped at the middle of the street, even though the drivers were angry. His daily work and rest can’t be changed. When Raymond saw the hot water, he shout. We can feel his love to his family in his heart. The most moving pictures are at the end. Raymond had to go back to the hospital. Charlie’s eyes with tears, they sat together, smiled and head to head. It is no more language, but exquisite and excites our mind.

Incontestable, as the movie review says that "2012" is a pretty disaster movie. No matter from the picture, sound or the plot. This movie makes people are personally on the scene. It also gives some spirits of life, such as bravery, justice and responsibility. But I think movie review just talk about the movie from one side. On the other side, if there is a disaster coming, what will you do? If we depend on the movie, we should have one billion pound or we can drive the plane and we are lucky enough. This movie also makes me think about what I can do if the responsibility comes. So we should from two sides to talk the movie. It is a good disaster movie with wonderful pictures, it is also a movie that give me some negative effects.

With the science and technology developing, more and more new electrical appliances come out. Cell phone is one of the most important things in my life. And it is one of the most useful and helpful things. I cannot live without it. As everybody knows, cell phone is used for contacting each other. It is convenient to take everywhere. If I have something to tell others immediately, such as I want to inform about something changed or I want to tell my mother where I am. I can use it whenever I want to. Many of the cell phones also can be used as a camera and an mp3. So I think cell phone is the most important technology for me.

There are two pictures about the beautiful buildings in the daytime and night. I also chose the old towel. It is a symbol of Chicago. There is a picture about a famous sculpture. The brands include Apple, ZAEA, H&M and Disney. We interview many persons about the pop culture on the street. Finally, I chose two of them to put on the glog.
